INSTáL II Bolt (.914" J-Bar®)

  1. Drill a 1-1/2" diameter hole approximately 1" to 1-1/2" longer than the bolt when completely assembled. 1-5/8" diameter borehole may also be used under certain strata conditions. Measure from where the plate touches the roof to the top of the bolt. Adjustment to be made to accommodate header boards, crossbars, plank, etc.

  2. Insert appropriate length and type of resin cartridge into hole (system adaptable to any length of resin).

  3. Insert top section of the INSTáL II bolt into the borehole with J-15 expansion anchor, coupler with roll pin. Make sure that the bottom end, of the top section of the bolt, is snug against the roll pin in the coupler. Note: due to vibration in transit and handling, these couplers can loosen off the threaded portion of the bolt. Without backing the coupler off the top section, screw the bottom section of the INSTáL II bolt with hardened steel washer, optional anti-friction washer, and plate assembled on the bolt into the bottom end of the coupler. Note: make sure the bottom section is not cross threaded and that it is screwed all the way into the coupler until it is snug against the roll pin.

  4. With the bolt in the bolt wrench, raise to top of the hole. Just hold bolt snug against the roof and apply torque as specified in roof control plan (250-400 ft-lbs). Do not apply excessive up pressure with the boom of the bolting machine. Always keep hands away from rotating parts. This completes the installation.
