Used in new mining and tunneling excavations and rehab of existing tunnels, entries, and underground spaces. Comprised of cold formed or rolled and cut-to-length Wide-Flange Beams fabricated into segments, tied together with tie rods and pipe spacers on 4 or 5 feet centers. Often lagged with mixed hardwoods, V-Deck, channel, or liner plate to carry loads between Arches or Square Sets. Sometimes used with shotcrete linings, incorporated and encapsulated into the tunnel lining. Coatings include Hot Dip Galvanization and Epoxy-Based Protective Coating.
