Umbrella canopy tubes are self-drilling casing pipes used in soft ground tunneling as forepoling. Installed in a concentric array above the tunnel crown with overlap between arrays, they provide immediate ground support. Grouted in place, the tubes consolidate and stabilize the ground as tunneling advances, allowing for safe application of temporary supports and shotcrete.

Forepoling ring bit system and casing tubes are designed to be drilled with top hammer or DTH in an umbrella shape as secondary support in the tunnel roof. Weak ground and overburden must be strengthened by grouting through the casing and grouting valves into the ground.

CASING OPTIONS:
Steel casings - Steel casings are the most used casing option. Their main features are:

• Ring bit is welded to starter casing in our factory
• Heavy duty ring bit protects the pilot gauge buttons
• Optional one-way valves for grouting can be installed in our factory (3–10 bar)
• Rods and other accessories are available

GFRP casings - Glass fiber reinforced polymer casings are a special type of casings that are used in face stabilization. Their main features are:

• Can be delivered with threaded extension casings
• Ring bits come with GFRP adapters
• Optional one-way valves for grouting can be installed in our factory (3–10 bar)
